The monetary result of an unwanted/unplanned child is over ten thousand dollars just for the birth, not to mention hundreds of thousands of dollars in raising the child (more if, as an unwanted child, they end up in state care) and the social effect (crime, poverty, etc) an unwanted or neglected child may eventually wreck on society.
All of this could be stopped by the Government or Insurance companies covering the cost of a $300 IUD or an annual subscription of birth control pills.
