I moved to Abu Dhabi after 5 years in Doha, so I guess the transition is a little easier :) The driving is better here in the UAE, as are the accommodation options, so I totally know where you're coming from. Don't let all these negative nancy's on this site get you down, most of them have probably never lived in the UAE and therefore don't know the difference in the quality of living and just think you are complaining for the sake of it.
On the bright side, once you get settled you will find that people are generally friendlier in Doha (which is good cause there isn't much to do! LOL) And that the city is easier to get around once you get your bearings.
Another downside will be when you go to buy your first case of beer though LOL! It's A LOT more expensive in Doha! :)
