You would think, reading all these murder stories from around the world, that the murder and violent crime rate is at an all time high and nowhere is safe. Complete nonsense actually, and the result of the media only highlighting the negative.
Actually crime rates are down across the board and in some case's are actually at all time lows (with the exception of a few places that are quite self explanatory, like East Africa, parts of South East Asia, etc):
Things like kidnapping, children out of wedlock and robbery are also at the lowest rates they've been in 60 years. (More teenagers were having babies out of wedlock in the UK & US in the 1920's & 30's than they are now, but you'll never see that stat in the papers).
