Well even the telegraphs "evidence" of guilt is entirely circumstantial and relying on a 20 year old girls psychological state after a traumatic experience and the drug addled memory of her boyfriend.
I can't say that in similar circumstances (especially at the age of 20) that I wouldn't have done and said the same things.
To me it seems like the Birtish press and the Italian police were looking for someone to villify and a good looking confused 20 year old and her boyfriend were easy pickings.
