I completely agree with tinkerbell. If accent is the only problem, north Indians have there own set - Bihari accent, bengali, punjabi, gujju .....Teacher should be compassionate and help guide the child.
As for accented english I have heard australian english (accent) which is completely different from an american or british or 'Irish' or german. I had to strain my ears in order to understand and make sense of what exactly they were talking about.
As Tinkerbell says, you can correct your child if they are pronouncing a word in an incorrect way.
