AbuAmerican, What you are missing is the context. As I have found you the one who cannot understand things easily, I would choose a different way to make my point. Tell me if one hears from people that his son or daughter is involved in some activities which are wrong, what father should do? Father has the right to find out if it is true to save him/her from the evil.

What you have quoted from Holy Quran is beyond doubt but you have failed to understand the issue we are discussing.

In this case where she heard that her maid is involved in an activity which is illegal and of course a sinful too, the lady has all the rights to find out the truth as it affects her since she is her sponsor. Also, it could have an impact on her children who are looked after by the maid. It could lead to any disaster if maid is inviting her acquaintances home.
