To have a cat is a lot easier than having a dog. Cats basically need their food and do a poo. So you give them food and they help them selves. If they are hungry they will let you know. They miauw and miauw. They need their toilet for the poo. This has to be kept clean. You scoop out the poo and throw that away. Change the cat litter when it has become dirty.
They love to be brushed, but it is not a necessarry like for dogs. Only when winter finishes do they loose their hair. You wet the brush & the hair will stick to it better. It is more a pleasure thing for them.
Every so now and then a bath. But if your cat stays inside, not much need for this.
Yes, you need to take care of them. But no, it is not a lot of work. You do get a lot more back from them. They welcome you when you arrive home. They like to sit on your lap when you watch TV. Great company.
My cats are not allowed into the bed room. They know this and I keep the door closed. Sometimes they sneak into the bedroom but then I say Noooo and they run out.
They are very intelligent and know what you want and what you dont want. But you have to teach them.
Health wise, I give them worm pills and I have these at home and every month I give them a pill.
Most of the cats are sterilized/spade and I do this at the Government health clinic - free of charge. And I go there for any other medical problem that might occur.
That is basically all you have to do for your cat.
