I had wrong information. There was a humongous crowd indeed, but they had come to watch the live performance of a famous Jordanian band 'Toyour Al Janah'.
The crowd response was so massive that the auditorium filled up an hour before the programme started. The organisers closed the gates and there were unruly scenes outside ASPIRE. Something I thought i'd never see in Qatar.
Well, the programme was a huge hit and it's prompted the Qatar Olympic Committee to promise people another show soon. here's the link...

But seriously, getting such a huge crowd for ANY event in Qatar is a huge achievement. Go Qatar, let the crowd roll in!
