Majority of individuals who argue against boycott put the same defeated arguments as those who are anti-free trade.
Yes, now, for instance, if those who begin boycotting are actually successful, then Israeli sponsored establishments would suffer in their profits and may reduce their operations...thus, job loss.
BUT! There is now a gap and a need in the market, so competitors either expand their operations (thus creating jobs) or new firms, which may even be local firms, stand up to fill in the gap...thus again creating jobs.
This is the basic of economics, not something I made up. And only Israeli sponsoring firms will feel the "long-term" negative impacts.
I also know loads of Palestinians who are Americans and own businesses in America, that does not mean by default they support Israel. They actually use substantial portions of their profits to support Palestine.
People need to differentiate the American foreign policy and the American population...the population that came out in record numbers to kick-out the Republicans.
If people want to boycott America, China, or even Mexico, that is their business.
But, Wednesday's meeting is to focus on reducing Israeli influence in the media AND boycotting companies that openly and directly sponsor Israel.
Thanks PM.
