""If you do good, you do good for your ownselves, and if you do evil (you do it) against your ownselves." "

Does not refer to the "golden rule" (Do onto others .....) This ayah means that the good deeds that a person does is for his or her benefit. If I don't do good deeds, then the only one who suffers is me. My good deeds are a favor to none other than myself. This is what the ayah means and Allah knows best.
