...was a place which had tleorance written all over it.
...was a place where i could let my creativity run riot.
...was a place which genuinely wanted to help people settle down in Qatar all that more faster.
But now, it is anything but that.
It has been widely polarised into left and right camps, people who feels that they are being wronged and others who feel that the wronged people are the wrong ones. Petty issues are blown way out of proportion and genuine topics have no takers. While a "good morning QL thread" get 300 replies, a genuine question about "health facilities in Qatar" receives but a whimper. Novi and a few others being the exception.
Waking up in the morning, I wouldnt like to read about petty issues with my morning cuppa coffee. While i do understand that the bigger a website becomes, the larger be the types of people and friction in it, i still cannot stand what the site has become.
It started with those religious threads, and then came the racism threads, and then the 'firing threat' thread and then the 'Qataris are BAAAAD' thread and so on. The hate never stopped, there was no looking back.
How many fell by the way side? How many people i would have loved to meet some day...e46M3, thetruth, smellyindiancoolie...
But for me, all hope is not lost yet. Every dusk should have a dawn. Like a dear friend once said, happenings in QL is cyclical. There is a low tide for every high tide. I am just hoping and praying that it does change.
Else, i would be pained with the feeling that my 1 year and 11 weeks in this wonderful forum would have been a waste. The feeling would always be there that this was what it was building up to all these years?
These are some of the reasons why i dont let the green man talk all that much lately. I miss QL, but i guess i will have to move on too...
