as of this writing, 4.11.8 onwards has NO unlock, unless done thru imei by the original issuer of that specific iphone. earlier modem firmware can be done by gevey sim. in the future though (nobody knows when)surely, it can.
to save yourself the trouble, and loosing the whole value of it, sell it for about 700-900 if it's a 32 GB version and according to the condition of it, and buy a new one.
