HMC Health card is needed for you to access any of the national health (ie. Hamad, Rumeilla, Womens Hospital) services including in patient, surgery, maternity and outpatients but excluding emergency treatment which you are already entitled to as a resident. It entitles you to almost free care that is not limited according to your nationality or salary.
HMC is a world class health service and with the exception of their waiting areas, you will be cared for very well. It is 50QR for outpatient and about 100QR per night for inpatient. You do not have to pay for treatment, drugs or surgery.
To get the card you must take the application form with the primary care centre number completed (this is your local clinic, they have to give you the number as far as I know) and 100QR to the Hamad or Rumeilla Hospital. They will then process this and give you a card valid for 1 year. After the 1 year you simply renew card online, very easy.
