Here are my thoughts... My daughter was born 15 months ago in Doha, and now I'm 4 months pregnant... I'll be going to the same Dr. Dr. Badi 4324349, located on C ring across from Toys R US...
A few things you need to consider when choosing a Dr. in Doha.
1) Many doctors who do your pre-natal checkups do not do delivery. Some don't bother to tell you this.. Make sure you ask.
2) For me, I wanted to see the same Dr. every visit, and have her deliver the baby too so Dr. Badi fit those requirements
3) You need to decide if you want your husband to attend/help at the birth. Hamad does not allow men to be there. The private hospitals do. For us, it was worth the cost for him to be there. He was nervous at first, but after witnessing the birth of our daughter, he won't miss the delivery of the second one!
4) Al Ahli seems to be the popular place for people to go recently. I had to go once for a minor "emergency" early on in my pregnancy. It was ok, but I'm still sticking with my dr, who delivers at Doha Clinic.
5) Pediatricians: The pediatricians at Al Ahli are excellent- we take may daughter to Dr. Mahmoun. I will be avoiding the ones at Doha Clinic as much as possible and switching to Al Ahli for my baby's care as soon as possible after birth.
6) Information: I suggest reading up on the most recent info on pregnancy (I like www.babycenter.com) to be informed. Although the doctors here are pretty good, I have discovered that they sometimes give advice that is outdated. There is so much new research being done, that there is no reason to follow old advice.
