Doha does not offer a lot in terms of entertainment. You're not going to be able to catch a play or concert & the shopping experience is not the best.
BUT, and I'll be making some assumptions here, not knowing what your offer package is:
You won't have to pay for housing and you'll probaly get a nice
apartment or house
No taxes up to $80,000 U.S. - sweet!
You get a car or a generous driving allowance.
If you're a social person, you can still have a social life.
I've managed to do it and I've only been here 4 months.
If you love to travel, you are in a prime spot - Turkey, Greece,
Spain, the Maldives, Jordan, Egypt, Dubai, India - you can get
some cheap flights and accomodations. I know tons of people who
have done that while they've been here.
4 - 5 weeks vacation - need I say more?
I've met some great people while I've been here. I've enjoyed meeting people from so many different cultures - it's just great seeing how other people think and view the world.
I'd say that meeting people and having a social circle is key to enjoying life in Qatar. Keep an open mind and you'll enjoy your time here.
Sure, there are negatives to being here, but my overall experience has been great and I'm sad that it's coming to an end.
Again, you can make your experience good or bad. It's all in how you approach it.
