The government-run Children's Emergency at Al Sadd is excellent. I'm speaking from personal experience where a private pediatrician didn't spot one of my sons' very serious, and potentially life-threatening, illness. Children's Emergency were quick to diagnose, begin treatment and provide an ambulance for the trip to hospital. It's there, however, for emergency cases; fevers, infections and the such.
Having said that, I would avoid the regular health centers and inpatient care at Hamad Hospital unless you can get the VIP treatment (private room, personal contact with the doctor, etc).
