Once you had deposited a friend's/relative's passport to get your child's birth certificate, then process the child's passport and visa so as to show it to them and give your friend's/relative's passport back. After that you need to process your transfer of sponsorship to your husband as they will only give you a one-year visa for your child. Hence, you'll gonna have difficulty renewing your child's visa yearly. I've had the same experience but not to the extent of depositing a passport 'coz I had my third child before they had done that. My only way out of that was to bring in my wife and children when I took his birth certificate.
