One of the biggest adjustments I have made here was to live during Ramadan time. When I came here 15 years ago, I landed smack dap right on the first day of Ramadan. I was warned that we are not supposed to eat outside but having all restaurants closed; having your work place restrict you from eating, drinking and even smoking made me hate this place and was something I never thought I had to go through. The worse part was I had to starve all day when I did not want. I could not find a single restaurant open and had gobble down potato chips and Pepsi in the parking lot.... I still don't see the point of making others starve, just because you starve, it gives me a totally wrong impression of this fasting business, I just feel that when you fast in the face of temptations and are able to withstand it, it makes it more justifiable and actually has some sort of purpose towards the whole objective of Ramadan Fasting.... But on the whole now that I have learnt to live with it and thank go it is limited to one month. I guess its okay now that I know I can go and grab a quick bite at home or inside the tea room with someone watching the door…
