Dohagirl, you're soooo right! Anyone can hand over some cash to assuage their guit, it's far, far more telling if you give up some of your time to spend making things better. Also having worked a lot with refugees, both in the UK and abroad, money is just part of the problem, many people would much prefer to be self sufficient and what they want/need is someone to take the time to help them acquire them.

Would the sick, hungry child, be less hungry in a few weeks because I hadn't bought my shoes? No. But if I go to where she lives and help with a project to teach her and her family how to grow food/build wells, whatever then maybe she won't be.
