Come on dohagirl, how often do the Qatar FA have to entice people to attend football matches by offering free raffles with cars as prizes. This avoided having a "spot the crowd" competition. The only game that I recall pulling in a full housewas the final of the Asian Cup in the 80's.
I would love to see the Asian Games well attended but it just isn't going to happen.
Many of the hotel beds are already accounted for by officials (and friends) of the governing body the OCA (Olympic Council of Asia).
Friends and relatives of the athletes will have to either stay at hotels or stay with friends in Qatar. There was a proposal to put relatives of athletes with Qatari families but I don't know how far that idea got as each "host" would have to be vetted.
There will be literally thousands of media. I don't know if the media village was ever built or whether they are pursuing the idea of putting all media on ships moored in the port.
In respect of charging QR 500 for the opening ceremony? I see a repeat of the first motor cycling in Qatar where they charged QR 100 for admission and then because of the lack of take-up made it free but refused to refund the cash to those who had paid the initial price.
We are talking of multiple-venues for a period of 2 weeks not just a single event.
