The eye test for a driving licence is funny.
A friend of mine who was totally blind in his left eye took the test and came out with a chit saying he had perfect vision.
He covered his blind eye up with his left hand and when they said cover the other eye up, he covered the same eye with the other hand.
There is a book called "If the sun doesn't kill you, the washing machine will" I cannot remember who wrote it but it was a guy who worked at the old booze syndicate (The house on the hill) when booze was cheap (pre Qatar Airways days). There is a chapter dedicated to the driving test that was serialised in the "Independent".
PS The book wasn't and, as far I am aware, is still not available in Qatar
