Stupid Asian Cup Stickers on Roads
By Translator •
Any one disagree with me that those round Asian Cup road stickers all over Doha is a waste of money?
I want to know, the intended purpose:
1. Give the drivers some more distraction
2. Show that looking at angle, the circle becomes an oval
3. Cover some road holes
4. Color coding the streets
5. It would look good for helicopter video
6. ???
they five me a headache trying to read them, never mind how dangerous....so now i have to look out for the stickers as well as stupid drivers.....
definitely not a "stupid" idea. What is stupid is closing out public roads that you'll need to go a long way just to go your place. For short period, maybe understandable, but prolong period, really unimaginable. STupid contractors and consultants!
It's a form of branding to grab attention, and get people talking - I guess it worked ;)
stupids are those drivers speeding at 100+ kph and looking at those stickers, so don't blame the stickers :/
Are they those little green stickers on the roads around Villaggio?
Exclusive lane, lols, that's what i was checking for too...
anyways, there's a lot of things which can be called 'wastage of money', how about the 7 lights a pole on the villagio road. i am curious what is the selling point!
They are meant for Ariel View only, if you want to read them from ground then you have to park your car on side and walk a little on road and then read it(if only no ambulance reaches you)
:D
Really you are right, you have to sit on the front bumper to see it well.
Lemme c frst...
I would be surprised if the traffic authority signed out roads as advertising spaces. Assessment of safety should be requested by traffic department before approval of such insult on the roads and its users. Insurance companies should push for that, instead of jacking up the cost every hour.
Yup its near khalifa stadium but i dnt think that its waste of money or something like that. Do u feel any problem wid that..??
that big TV poses more danger while driving than those "stick ons" on the roads :)
btw, in this case QMedia should be banned in Qatar too!
haha,if just these stickers hinder the driving safety what do you think about the wide Plasmas that too next to roundabouts?! (eg: next to Sports R/A near GrandRegency)
@OP...Thanks for the info. Last night while driving I actually tried reading whats on those stickers but couldn't..:)
well just focus on the road while driving to avoid accident, other banners and posters can be seen on roads leading to football stadiums promoting the AFC event aside from those promotional ones painted on the road.
It is simply for advertising the Asian Cup and you will see lot of them in West Bay area as well.
Brit, no worry about that, I wish more consultancy companies get paid millions, but please respect the safety of the driving population, and their intelligence as well.
You need not to brag about a stupid idea.
They are dangerous. People try to read them while driving, and doing so, they hit the car in front of them.
You are missing the point. A consultancy company probably got paid millions for such a brilliant idea..
thankx man
you post what is in my mind
it is reaaaaaaaaaaly stupid
they even didn't scale them to be in oval shape so drivers can see them
I know the color codes Oryx, but that is even one more reason to confirm my point, does the color code tell you that you are getting closer to your intended stadium?
It is simply useless idea, unless you have won the contract to make them.
They are colour coded according to the stadium they lead to. Check the AFC schedule and you will see the colour codes.
stupid stickers.. they are on top far too small... you need to look at least at 20 of them till you know what it means. after you check if this is a "exclusive" lane for the 3rd grade players? no thanks good they are on all lanes ... but why?
ukeng, i think it's just for advertising the AFC event next month.
if ever you'll go to villagio, you'll see them :)
Similar stickers are normally used for Traffic Safety to warn people to either slow down or abide by the speed limit.
I dont know if this is the intenetion of the organisers to get people to slow down when they are driving around the stadiums?
lol somwer, that explains it.. I've never been anywhere near football stadiums lately.. :P
they're on most roads near football stadiums MJ
where u have seen those stickers??
I've never seen one.. :)
i see nothing wrong with them.
