"Map of Markhia Street diversions"

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced partial closure of the Markhia Street and new diversions at Shahaniya.
The one lane from Jubailiat roundabout near to Dahl Al Hamam roundabout will be closed tomorrow for a month, and the traffic will be rerouted (see the map).
Ashghal has assured safe and smooth traffic flow through the rerouted lines throughout the closure, which is on account of the expansion of drainage lines and construction of pumping main at the Diplomatic Area in order to pump the sewer completely to the treatment plant and to pump the treated water for irrigation.
The new pumping station and drainage lines will also benefit Dafna and new Diplomatic Area, in order to cope with the urban development of these areas.
The Shahaniya diversions, part of the ongoing Dukhan Highway expansion project, start from today for a period of four weeks, with likely alterations in the diverted route, until the final asphalt is completed on the main highway.
As per the new diversion, the existing temporary roundabout east of Shahaniya will be removed in order to finish the asphalt surfacing of the main carriageway and the two roads linking into this roundabout will be closed.
The alternative route to and from Rawdat Rashed and the Camel Race Track will be via the new Shahaniya Interchange.
Dukhan Highway is one of the major projects of Roads Affairs of Ashghal within its five-year plan. The project is implemented in three phases to construct an international standard four-lane dual carriage highway facilitated with modern infrastructure, service roads and landscaping.
