How many children should a couple ideally have?

Susi Kuehne From: Germany; I think there is no ideal number of how many children should be in a family but in my opinion the economical situation is a prime factor in the decision of planning a family.
It starts with things kids see in commercials, they want to have clothes they see.
But in an unstable economic situation, it is hard to have a child because often you have to say “no” to your child’s wish.
A healthy relationship with family can help to handle this situation easier because of their support.
While I was doing my apprenticeship my family used to support me by taking care of my daughter so I had the time to study or they used to buy clothes for her because I was not able to afford it.
Even so it was a difficult time and my economic situation was not very stable but I never regret it because now my daughter knows how to appreciate the things.

Nadjim Hammouda; From: Canada; I think the ideal number of kids in a family should be four and better if two boys and two girls. I think this number is reasonable in the wake of the current economic reality around the world.
Kids are blessing from God, but one should be wise and realistic. Our kids have rights and it is our duty to meet their demands until they can be independent.
If the economic situation is nice in a family, in a way that provides good education for each kid, then there is no harm of having more children. Needless to say that parents invest on children so that they can secure good education.
I have come across with many cases of disintegrated families where each family has 10 or more members. Obviously parents could not allocate enough time for each one of them and they did not get the education they deserved.
In this case, kids are anything but blessing.

Suja Bala, From : India; Children deserve to be brought up in a decent manner and it is wholly up to the parents to decide as to how many children they should have.
Of course, financial position of a family has a decisive role in the upbringing of every child born into it. If the parents feel they could financially and physically support more children at one time, there is nothing wrong in a couple having more children. If they feel the other way around for their own reasons, it is good to have only one or two children.
One thing that is increasingly found everywhere is that children grown up in a group show more concern to developments around them than others brought up in a small family set-up. Sometimes, one feels children born and brought up in larger family set-ups demonstrate better personality in later life than those grown up in small set-up of one or two children.

Farida Binti Abdul Kadir; From: Malaysia: As Muslims, we have to have certain number of children. We must not deny any child a chance to live based on our economic buoyancy.
If a woman conceives, she should bring the baby to life, and provide care and warmth the baby needs. Because, according to our belief, all children have to make a contribution towards the society.
For me, having small family is not much different from keeping a big one because parents are supposed to be in charge of every child in a family. They must provide education, shelter, food and clothing. They must give equal opportunity to everyone no matter the number. So, I’ll say number does not matter, but what the children turn out to be in life, does.

Hichem Ben Lassoued, From: Tunisia: I’ll say three children are ideal for a family because we need to raise them very well, provide them with good shelter, good life and all that.
So, if we keep a sizeable family, we will be able to make sufficient provisions for each and everyone, especially now that the economy does not augur well for the majority.
In the past, when we were growing, siblings used to hand over used personal effects like clothes and shoes to themselves, this is no longer is the case nowadays as every child wants something new for him/herself.
If parents keep small number of children, they themselves will enjoy their life and see the children as their own siblings when they grow up enough.
