Hi,

i'm still just beginning to learn photography so not very conversant in the equipment yet

So can someone help me get familiarized with my Sony DCR-DVD803E 3.0 mp camera. Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar. Is it possible to take v.good stills with a handycam? I made an attempt at the diving competition today at hamad acquatic but the results were miserable. Is it because i dont know how or is it just not possible with this camera.
and what exactly does vario-sonnar mean? is it just the model name or means something technically?
