Ruud signs one-year contract extension

Ruud van Nistelrooy signed a one-year contract extension with Spanish champion Real Madrid through to 2010 on Wednesday.
The 31-year-old Dutch striker, who led the Spanish league with 25 goals in his debut season at Madrid after joining the team from Manchester United in 2006, has scored nine goals in 18 matches this season.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"I love the philosophy of this club and I'm really happy to play here for two more years," Van Nistelrooy said. "It's an honour to be part of Real Madrid's history."
