Saudi Arabia has announced major changes to the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage, including a ban on children's participation. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah stated that the restriction is intended to safeguard children from potential dangers posed by large crowds and to enhance overall safety measures. Additionally, priority will be given to first-time pilgrims to ensure more Muslims can fulfil this religious duty at least once in their lifetime.
New Visa Regulations
Effective February 1, 2025, Saudi Arabia will issue only single-entry visas for pilgrims from 14 countries, including India, to prevent unauthorized Hajj participation. Authorities explained that unregulated pilgrims have contributed to overcrowding, making crowd management more challenging. The affected countries include :
Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen.
As part of this policy shift, Saudi Arabia has indefinitely suspended one-year-multiple entry visas for tourism business, and family visits from these nations.
Hajj registration and payment options
Saudi citizens and residents can register for Hajj 2025 via the Nusuk App or the official website, ensuring their personal details and travel companions are verified.
A new installment-based plan has also been introduced for domestic pilgrims:
- 20% deposit within 72 hours of booking.
- Two 40% installments are due by Ramadan 20 and Shawwal 20.
- Reservations will only be confirmed once the final payment is received.
Saudi authorities continue to refine Hajj regulations to improve safety and organization. Pilgrims are urged to register through official channels and adhere to the new guidelines.
