With more than 200 companies from nearly 20 countries set to exhibit their products and capabilities, the 7th edition of the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) 2022 is set to be one of the most anticipated events on the international maritime defense and security calendar.
The event, which takes place every two years, will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar – from 21st to 23rd of March 2022 at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) under the theme 'Connecting the World's Maritime Defense and Security Community', hosted and organized by Qatar Armed Forces.
In addition to displays of new and futuristic technologies, DIMDEX 2022 will feature the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC), a Warships Display at Hamad Port, and networking opportunities with senior defense decision-makers including Ministers of Defense, Chiefs of Staff, Chiefs of Navies, and the heads of defense industries who will be attending the event.
A wide variety of warships representing navies across the globe will be on display during the event. DIMDEX 2018 featured nine warships from seven different countries, but this edition is anticipated to feature 15-20 warships.
Visitor warships will be welcomed to discover Doha and the activities associated with the event as well as a crew sports tournament to help foster camaraderie between crews.
A key component of DIMDEX 2022, the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC), is taking place on the second day. It gathers a diverse group of world-leading experts to discuss how to develop maritime resilience.
Throughout the years, DIMDEX played a major role in the development of Qatar's military capabilities as well as the country's defense industry. Agreements worth over USD 32 billion have been signed since the inaugural edition.
Since the first edition, over USD 32 billion in agreements have been signed. At the 2018 edition alone, 35 new partnerships were announced, with 27 agreements signed on the spot.
Over 200 companies from around the world will present the latest innovations in maritime and naval spheres, including anti-piracy systems, cyber-infrastructure, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and autonomous systems, at the upcoming edition, which is expected to have the highest turnout ever.
