Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) yesterday shed light on the requirements for obtaining visit visas for family and relatives.

In a virtual awareness seminar, organized by the Unified Services Department (USD) and Humanitarian Services Office (HSO) jointly with the Public Relations Department, the Ministry stated that a minimum salary of QR5,000 is required to apply for visit visas for spouse and children while QR10,000 is needed to apply for other family members’ visas such as parents, siblings, or spouse’s relatives.

Head of the Service Offices Section at the USD, Lt-Col Dr Saad Owaida Al Ahbabi presented an overview of MoI’s service centers spread across the country and shared information on the kind of services they offer to Qatar’s citizens and residents.

Lt-Col Al Ahbabi explained the visit visa requirements during the seminar. He said that the visit visa applications for spouse and children can be sent via Metrash2 and will need the following documents: visit visa application form, a no-objection letter from the employer, photocopy of the company card, copy of the passport of the visitor, copy of the applicant's ID card, health insurance, round-trip tickets, proof of relationship (wife - notarized marriage certificate/children - birth certificate) and work contract notarized by the Ministry of Labor. The applicant needs to have a minimum salary of QR5,000.

For the applications of visit visas of other family members, such as parents, siblings and spouse's relatives, the process can be initiated via Metrash2. The documents required are: the visit visa application form, no-objection letter from the employer, copy of the company card, copy of the passport of the visitor, copy of the applicant's ID card, copy of the wife's residency card (if she is a resident) and proof of relationship. The applicant must have a minimum salary of QR10,000.

Among other officials who spoke during the seminar were, Capt Abdullah Saeed Al Abdullah, Officer at the HSO, who spoke about the responsibilities of the Office and its services, provided in coordination with different authorities in Qatar.

Captain Mohamed Ali Al Rashid drew attention to the procedures to use the grace period for legalizing the status of expatriates who have violated the residency law. The grace period began on October 10 and will be effective until December 31.
