Qatar Petroleum Mesaieed living
Hi Everyone,
I have a potential offer from QP but they are insisting that I have to stay in their compounds at Mesaieed. Are they forcing Mesaieed employees to live at Mesaieed now? Does anyone have experience of successfully negotiating an accommodation allowance instead and potential living in Doha?
What is it like living in Mesaieed? What is the population? Is there entertainment for a family with kids (7-11)? any idea what the QP compounds look like and what nationalities live there?

"Insisting" and "forcing"? I don't think they can "insist" or "force" you. What they are "offering" is part of their policy which applies to all who wish to join QP in that particular rank or position which has been offered to you. There could be other factors involved. Staying in their compound may enable you to be close to to their workplace. They may also have their own pick up and drop facility available. Also, if the company has a residential compound which it owns, it will surely have a policy of not giving House Rent Allowance to any employee.
Alternatively, if you are unhappy with their policy, you always have the option of refusing the offer, or live off your own expenses outside their compounds.
Messaied is a small town about 40 kms from Doha. It is more of an industrial town. Its more or less of a "sleepy" town.
