935 children to participate in this Ramadan's Katara Quran memorization competition
The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) had announced yesterday that 935 children are to participate in its “Juz’u Amma” competition this Ramadan.
Falling within the activities hosted by Katara during the Month of Ramadan, the annual Holy Quran memorization and recitation competition for children is open to children of age 6 to 13 and the registration for this competition was done electronically.
According to Katara, all participants will be contacted by phone and Zoom for further evaluation and the top three winners will receive QAR 10,000, QAR 8,000, and QAR 5,000 respectively.
In line with Qatar’s precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the competition came within the series of competitions and various activities presented remotely by Katara within its social media platforms.
Last year’s Quran memorization contest witnessed the participation of 1,681 children and 765 of these participants had qualified for the competition.
Katara has launched a set of competitions dedicated to children within the framework of its continuous endeavor to pay attention to this important segment of society by setting up educational and recreational programs and its keenness in spreading culture, heritage, and Arab and Islamic values.
In observance of the holy month, Katara had announced a variety of virtual activities and events such as online competitions and virtual exhibitions under COVID-19 precautionary measures being implemented by the state.
These activities include several daily and weekly competitions in which valuable prizes can be won such as Q&A contests, short story competitions, the Katara Prize for Arabic Poetry (Mothers of the Believers), the “Juz’u Amma” and much more.
Katara is also broadcasting new episodes of the popular cartoon series it has produced called “Tamour and Tamoura.” Some virtual art exhibitions that Katara had launched earlier can still be viewed through its official website.
This year’s Katara Ramadan activities come within the framework of Doha as the capital of Islamic culture, as the Cultural Village is providing diverse cultural activities that enhance the role of culture in the Islamic world.
Katara continues to present its various activities and exhibitions on its social media accounts and its website.
