Quarantine requirements now extended for all arrivals until August 31, 2021: Discover Qatar

Hotel quarantine packages for arrivals from countries not on the Green List have now been extended until August 31, 2021.

Prior to the extension, the booking option was available until May 31, 2021. However, now the website shows hotel booking options until the end of August 2021.

There are two categories of quarantine bookings on Discover Qatar. These include:

- Arrivals on flights and via Abu Samra border from Red Zone Countries

- Mekaines/Mukaynis Quarantine

Since February 15, arrivals from the UK, Denmark, the Netherlands and South Africa have been permitted to book any of the quarantine hotels. Previously, they could only book at select hotels.

Qatar made hotel quarantine mandatory for all travelers from countries not on the Green List. Any previous exemptions from hotel quarantine no longer apply for people returning back to Qatar from Red Zone countries.

"You will not be allowed to board your flight or cross the Abu Samra land border if you do not have a correct Discover Qatar Welcome Home hotel voucher," Discover Qatar states.

For August 2021 (for red zone countries), the website currently shows about 43 hotels with the lowest price being QAR 2,079 for a 7-night stay.

Important Information as listed on the website:

• Any adults (18 or over) who have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine from a medical facility in Qatar, with the second vaccine received at least 14 days before the date of entry into Qatar, are exempted from quarantine.
• Any child up to the age of 16 will be exempted from hotel quarantine if accompanied by a parent who has received the vaccine in line with the above qualifications. The child will be required to quarantine at home for 7 days.
• For parents traveling with a minor aged 16-18 where the minor has not received the vaccine in line with the above qualifications, they will need to book a “Welcome Home Package” and follow the same conditions outlined in the rest of this document, regardless if the parent has received the vaccinations or otherwise.
• Effective February 14, 2021, all those arriving into Qatar from countries not included in the Green List, are required to hold a Discover Qatar hotel quarantine package booking. Previous exemptions for those that fall under the vulnerable groups category no longer apply. Exemptions remain in place for Diplomats and their families holding ID cards issued by MOFA and Admin card holders, holders of EEPs with private quarantine   
• Quarantine requirements will be determined by the country from which the flight departs and whether it is included as a ‘COVID Low Risk Country’ or not. Please see MOPH website for the current list. As this list can be revised at any time, it is strongly recommend that you check this regularly for any changes that may affect your plans.
• Please do not book a “Welcome Home Package” until you have read all of the information on this page, you have approval to travel to Qatar, and you know what type of quarantine you will be required to complete.
• There is a daily limit on arrivals entering Qatar and demand is extremely high.
• If you are searching for availability and no hotels are displayed, it is most likely that the daily arrivals limit has been reached. You will need to choose another date.
• Discover Qatar are not involved with the Exceptional Entry Permit process and are unable to assist with any queries about your certificate.
• Once a booking is confirmed, no amendments to quarantine hotel packages can be made. Cancellations will be refunded in full up to 21 days before arrival. All cancellations within 21 days are subject to 100 percent cancellation charges with the following exceptions
  • Flight was canceled or changed by the airline
  • Compassionate grounds, supported by some documentary evidence, such as a positive PCR result preventing travel
  • Exemption from quarantine granted upon arrival into Qatar
  • If you have received both doses of the vaccination within Qatar and are no longer required to undertake hotel quarantine, you must advise us within 48 hours of arrival
