Children exempt from hotel quarantine if accompanied by parent vaccinated against COVID-19: Discover Qatar
As Qatar continues to vaccinate more of its citizens and residents, the country has recently announced some changes in quarantine requirements.
On Friday, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) confirmed that those individuals who have received the COVID-19 vaccine can travel immediately after their second dose.
These people will be exempt from quarantine arrangements provided their date of return is 14 days after the second shot.
Changes to quarantine requirements for children also seem to have taken effect based on information available on the Discover Qatar website for arrivals from red zone countries.
“Any child up to the age of 16 will be exempted from hotel quarantine if accompanied by a parent who has received the vaccine,” the website states.
“The child will be required to quarantine at home for 7 days,” Discover Qatar adds.
Minors aged 16 to 18, who haven’t received the COVID-19 vaccine, will be required to undergo hotel quarantine. Their parents, regardless of being vaccinated or not, will have to book a ‘Welcome Home Package’ and comply with the conditions listed on the website, according to Discover Qatar.
Furthermore, “any adults (18 or over) who have received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine from a medical facility in Qatar, with the second vaccine received at least 14 days before the date of entry into Qatar, are exempted from quarantine.”
Since February 14, 2021, all arrivals to Qatar from countries not on the Green List have been required to fulfil quarantine requirements at hotels booked through Discover Qatar.
All prior exemptions for those that fall under the vulnerable groups category no longer apply.
"Exemptions remain in place for Diplomats and their families holding ID cards issued by MOFA and Admin card holders, holders of EEPs with private quarantine," Discover Qatar states.
Discover Qatar urges individuals to avoid booking a 'Welcome Home Package' until they have read all the information available on the website. Before booking a hotel package, people should have the approval to travel to Qatar and should know what type of quarantine they will be required to complete.
"Quarantine requirements will be determined by the country from which the flight departs and whether it is included as a ‘COVID Low Risk Country’ or not. Please see MOPH website for the current list. As this list can be revised at any time, we strongly recommend that you check this regularly for any changes that may affect your plans.," Discover Qatar emphasizes.
