
Sheikh Joaan crowns Kvitova as Champion of 2021 Qatar Total Open

HE President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani crowned Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic as the champion of the 19th Qatar Total Open, following her victory over Spain's Garbine Muguruza on Saturday evening at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
Kvitova defeated Muguruza 6-2 6-1 in an hour and six minutes, resulting in the second title for the 30-year-old Czech player in Qatar Total Open after her victory in 2018 when she also defeated Muguruza 6-3 3-6 6-4 in the final match.

While Kvitova lost the Qatar Total Open final match to the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka last year, she has now claimed her 28th career title including two Wimbledon trophies.
Furthermore, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani was also present at the finals of the Qatar Total Open 2021.
A number of Their Excellencies Sheikhs, ministers, and tennis fans attended the final match amid precautionary measures to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Tennis lovers can now look forward to the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2021 which is set to take place from March 8 till 13 at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex.
