QOC reaffirms commitment to hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2032

In recent years, Qatar has cemented its position as a prestigious sporting hub in the region.
Having successfully hosted several international tournaments, with the most recent one being the FIFA Club World Cup in February, Qatar has proven its capabilities to deliver excellence in this area.
In the coming years, the country will be the stage for some world-class sporting events including the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, FINA World Aquatics Championships 2023, IJF World Judo Championships 2023 and 2030 Asian Games, among others.
Under the ambition to further grow as a sporting hub, Qatar has also set its eyes upon the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2032.
In a statement yesterday, the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining dialogue with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Future Host Commission, as it moves ahead in its bid to host the Games for the first time.

On February 3 this year, QOC had shared its initial plans with the Future Host Commission under the dialogue phase of the IOC’s new bid process.
QOC had highlighted how Qatar’s bid is fully aligned with the country’s National Vision for 2030 that focuses on advancing human, social, economic and environmental development through sport.
The Games, which have never been held in this part of the world, will provide an opportunity for the QOC to help spread the principles of Olympism in Qatar and around the region.
The QOC’s Venue Masterplan includes over 80 percent existing venues, all of which have been tried and tested with International Sports Federations during many high-level events hosted in Qatar, the QOC stated.
QOC President HE Sheikh Joaan Bin Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani said, “Hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2032 remains our ultimate ambition.
“We have listened and learned from our two previous bids and humbly believe that we are now perfectly positioned to deliver a low-risk, sustainable and world-class edition of Games, which is perfectly aligned with Olympic Agenda 2020+5,” he said.
“We are looking forward to continuing our dialogue with the Future Host Commission. With the Games 11 years away, we hope to have the opportunity to discuss our plans with the Commission and develop our bid further, before a final decision is taken,” Sheikh Joaan mentioned.
“We are confident that in continuing our dialogue with the IOC we can demonstrate how the Games in Qatar would make history, delivering an unprecedented legacy for our region and the Olympic Movement,” he added.
