Kuwait's Deputy PM in Qatar to attend opening ceremony of Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor

One of Qatar's most significant road projects, Sabah Al Ahmed Corridor, will be officially inaugurated tonight in the presence of His Excellency Kuwait's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah who arrived in Doha earlier today.
Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani is to open the Corridor at a special ceremony.
The Sabah Al Ahmed Corridor is meant to serve as a vital artery of Qatar’s road infrastructure and drives forward Qatar’s journey toward improving road access to all parts of the nation.
The Corridor has been named after Kuwaiti Amir HH Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah and symbolizes the strength of the ties between the people of Qatar and Kuwait.
The first phase of the mega project was launched in September 2020.
The project comprises 32 bridges including the largest bridge in the country at 2.6 kilometers.
It also features Qatar's first cable-stayed bridge at a length of 1.2 kilometers in addition to nine tunnels. Part of these is the longest and deepest two-way tunnel with a length of 2.1 kilometers and a depth of 25 meters.
The Corridor will also facilitate access to the 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums.

As part of his visit to Qatar, the Kuwaiti PM met with His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
He conveyed the greetings of the Kuwaiti Amir HH Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to his brother, HH the Amir and expressed his utmost gratitude for naming the Corridor after the late HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The Kuwaiti Amir also wished continued success, progress and prosperity for the Qatari people.
The meeting also explored ways of boosting Qatar-Kuwait ties further.
