Qatar and Egypt hold first meeting since Al-Ula Declaration

After over three and a half years of severed ties between Qatar and the former blockading quartet, the historic GCC Summit earlier in January saw the signing of the ‘Al-Ula Declaration,’ bringing an end to the blockade.
The agreement saw Qatar, KSA, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt and Bahrain pledge to rebuild ties and enhance joint work for regional prosperity and stability.
Following the agreement, all four countries opened their borders, land and airspace with Qatar.
Among others, flights from Doha to Cairo and Alexandria restarted on January 18 and January 25, respectively.
Yesterday, two official delegations from Qatar and Egypt met for the first time since the Al-Ula Declaration to discuss the way forward.
The meeting between the two sides took place in Kuwait and looked at setting the mechanisms and procedures for cooperation.
