WATCH: Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum to open to public in two stages
As Qatar continues to bolster its role as the region’s powerful sporting hub, it will soon open the doors to the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.
Located next to the Khalifa International Stadium, the museum is set to open in two stages, according to Chairperson of Qatar Museums, Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.
The first phase will be in July this year, coinciding with the Tokyo Olympics, while the second will be in September in time for the Arab Cup 2021, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa mentioned in a tweet recently.

The tweet followed HE Sheikha Al Mayassa’s visit to the museum on January 19, 2021.
This is “one of the pioneering projects launched by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani after hosting the 2006 Asian Games,” HE said.
She also mentioned that sport has become an essential part of life, whether for fun or professional reasons.
“Qatar continues to host many world-class events and annual events - it is our responsibility to make sure that our children and community start living healthy and active lives from a young age,” she said hoping to see “this museum join the Olympic Museums Network soon."
The 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum will offer enriching experiences to visitors with interactive and unforgettable exhibits, inspiring objects and unique activity areas.
In a state-of-the-art facility, the museum will educate and entertain visitors to appreciate sport and recognize its importance in daily life.
“From oral histories of the roots of Qatari sport, to the thrill of Formula One, the museum collects, displays and celebrates it all whilst demonstrating to the world that sport and Qatar are intrinsically linked,” according to the museum's website.
