HH the Amir praised the services of the frontline healthcare workers who have been fighting the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In a speech during the occasion, HH the Amir said, the medical staff and other affiliated teams who have saved the lives of many people infected with the virus are the "champions of these times".

The Amir said: " Dear friends across the world, as we celebrate the completion of Education City Stadium, the third venue for the World Cup 2022, we greet the champions of these times: the medical staff and all the staff of the teams working on the frontline against the Covid-19 pandemic, who have saved the lives of many people and brought back hope to them.
We thank you and we support you.
As the world begins to open up, it is through your courage, dedication, and sincerity that we truly believe in better days to come, the days when we will enjoy together watching the stars of the game in our stadiums.
Qatar is looking forward, and more excited and enthusiastic than ever, to welcome guests from all over the world for an exceptional World Cup. Thank you very much."
The Education City Stadium, dubbed 'Diamond in the Desert,' embraces several sustainability features such as direct access to public transport via the Education City tram system link to Doha Metro and low toxicity indoor materials that provide a healthy indoor environment. Fans can reach the stadium easily by either road or metro, with Doha's bustling city center just 7km away.
As they arrive, fans will witness many green spaces and state-of-the-art amenities surrounding the venue, all built with an eye on sustainability and the future. Facilities include football training pitches, a golf course, and shops.
The landscape around Education City Stadium is filled with leading universities, where cutting-edge research is conducted, and academics inspire their students to be at their best. This whole area, the home of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, buzzes with the invention and a determination to make the FIFA World Cup 2022 a catalyst for social and human development.
As with all FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums, advanced cooling technologies ensure comfortable temperatures year-round for players and fans. Those looking for even more comfort can enjoy the game from hospitality and VIP areas.
After the FIFA 2022 World Cup is over, the capacity of Education City Stadium will be reduced from 40,000 to 20,000 so that the remaining seats will be a tributary of football development around the world. At the local level, the stadium will become a sport, leisure and social complex, distinguished for students and people from the nearby regions.
Earlier this year, Education City Stadium received a 5-star rating from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS).
Last year, Qatar reached a new high by finishing the turf-laying of two of the 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums, Al Wakrah Stadium and Al Bayt Stadium, in record time.
