
COVID-19: Qatar announces 279 new cases, 14 new recoveries, and 1 death

In today’s COVID-19 statistics, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced that Qatar recorded its fourth death in the fight against the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
MoPH explained that the death was of a 88 years old citizen who was suffering from several chronic diseases and was admitted to the hospital due to acute bacterial infection in the blood that led to his death and at the same time it was found that he was infected with the COVID-19.
Confirmed cases rose by 279 over the 24-hour period, bringing the national total to 1,604.
Some of the new cases are related to travelers who have returned to Qatar and others to contacts, and the newly infected cases have been entered under complete health isolation, where they receive the necessary medical care. With these, the total number of active cases rose to 1,477.
It was also announced that 14 patients who had contracted COVID-19 in Qatar have beat the virus. The 9 patients have recovered from the COVID-19 infection and are in good health, the officials confirmed. With these, the total number of COVID-19 recovery in Qatar has now reached 123.
The total number of tests conducted in Qatar as of today is 35,757.
As health authorities in the country continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.
This includes washing your hands often, using hand sanitizers, and keeping a distance of at least one meter (3 feet) from people who have symptoms of illness.
MoPH also advises citizens and residents to use a sleeve to cover the nose and mouth while coughing and sneezing in public or to use tissue paper and dispose it appropriately.
