HH the Amir meets Secretary of Russian Security Council
Qatar and Russia share over three decades of strong bilateral relations.
The two nations continue to further cement relations through cooperation and collaboration across various fields including energy, defense, trade and investment, scientific research, among others.
In a bid to enhance cooperation between the two friendly countries in the field of security, top security officials from Russia met with Qatari leadership yesterday.
The Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev, accompanied by an official delegation, saw His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani at the Amiri Diwan.
During the meeting, Patrushev shared President Vladimir Putin’s good wishes with HH the Amir. He said the Russian President sent his wishes of health, happiness, development, and prosperity to the people of Qatar.
HH the Amir reciprocated his greetings to the Russian president, wishing him health and wellness and continued progress and development for the people of Russia.
The meeting looked at Qatar-Russia's strategic ties and reviewed ways to further consolidate them, particularly in the domain of security.
Later, the Russian security officials met with His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
The session delved into bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and prospects to further strengthen and develop them.
The two parties also exchanged views on issues of mutual concern, in addition to underlining the Qatari-Russian efforts in the field of combating terrorism.

The discussions were followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Qatar and Russia in the security fields.
HE Qatar’s PM and the Secretary of the Russian Security Council witnessed the signing of the deal in the presence of several ministers from Qatar as well as members of the delegation from Russia.
Later, HE the PM also hosted a luncheon banquet for Nikolai Patrushev and his accompanying delegation at the Amiri Diwan.
