WATCH: Balloon Run at Al Bidda Park sees great turnout
One of the most exciting activities for children on National Sport Day, the fun-filled Balloon Run at Al Bidda Park saw another huge success with the participation of several children of all ages.
The annual Balloon Run is part of the NSD activities organized by Qatar Sports For All to promote the culture of sports among school children.
The 1.5-kilometer race encourages children to be active while also learning about the idea of teamwork and unity in sports activities.
This year's race began at 7.30 am and was led by His Excellency Qatar's Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali.
The Balloon Run offers children a chance to present their best sporting skills as they endeavor to finish the course of the race holding on to the balloons given to them at the start.
To win, members of each team must arrive at the finish line with their respective balloons.
While the race is visually pleasing as the colorful balloons are seen against the natural greens of the park, it serves as a fantastic reminder to children about how sports are important and can be fun.
In addition to the Balloon Run, Al Bidda Park also held a host of exciting activities to promote the idea of a healthy and active lifestyle among children and families.
These included football, tug of war, foosball, basketball, mini archery, relay games, as well as a calisthenics exhibition held by the Calisthenics Qatar Group.
