Court Case for Credit Card Debt

Dear All,

My story is a bit long but I will try to make it short. I left Qatar in April,2017 as my employer was bankrupted. My employment contract was terminated like all other employees. I had about 20k QAR Credit Card debt when my contract was terminated. However, I had also Credit Shield Plus Insurance for my credit card ( I was paying for it) which covers %100 of the credit card debt in case of unemployment.

Long story short, I applied to CBQ for the insurance to cover my debt. All was ok so far, I left Qatar thinking there would be no problem as I was told paperworks would have taken upto 1 month.

To my surprise, I received a notice letter from an UK collection agency in 2018. I tried to contact CBQ, I spoke to collection agency and explained everything with my proofs. I later came to know that a court case had opened in Qatar against me. They told me they would come back to me with a feedback from the bank but it never happened until I heard from another law firm from Turkey this time. Again I explained the story but this time they were helpful. Somehow my application for the insurance was in the system of the bank but nobody dared to review it in almost 2 years since the initial applicaton date. Well, this time CBQ proceeded with the insurance but I still had to pay some little amount (about 1.5 k QAR) due to the interest rates on the initial debt of this 2 years (not my fault but I was fed up)  :)

Well actually I am ok with it. Now evertything is settled and CBQ applied to the court to cancel the case. However I still doubt whether I would face any trouble if I visit Qatar one day. I need to know how safe to travel there. I didn't attend attend at any court hearing because I didn't know. Even the court case is resolved now, would I still face a problem? I will appreciate if you show any way to check it.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Dear Same thing happen with me last year , i lose my job with credit card dent of 10,000 QAR.

i went to insurance and they said we cannot give you clearance unless you settle all payment or wait for insurance.

OR you pay now and once the insurance claim will be approved we will transfer it to your account. I pay it and later only 40 % was approved and was credited to my account. this insurance took around 2.5 months.
