The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, yesterday opened a signal-controlled junction between Al Maadeed Street and Haloul Street in Al Mamoura area.

This junction is part of the massive Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor Project launched earlier this year

The upgraded junction lets drivers coming from Haloul Interchange turn left to Al Ghemar Street.

Those coming from Doha can turn left to Al Maadeed Street while drivers from Al Maadeed Street have access to go straight or turn left to Haloul Street.

According to Ashghal, the junction makes it possible for drivers to turn right from all its four sides.

The authority will put up road signs to guide motorists regarding the new signal.

Additionally, Ashghal urges all motorists to adhere to the speed limit and follow road signs to ensure their safety and that of others on the road.

The Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor project will act as a vital artery of Qatar’s road infrastructure. Slated for completion in 2021, the corridor will significantly enhance north-south connectivity and provide access to over 25 residential areas.

There will be a total of 17 intersections, 32 bridges and 12 tunnels built as part of the project.

A striking feature of the project will be Qatar’s first-ever suspension bridge will span 1,200m from Mesaimeer to Al Bustan Road. The project will also see the construction of the country’s longest bridge, covering a distance of 2.6km.

Furthermore, the Corridor will facilitate access to most of the 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums including Ras Bu Abboud, Al Thumama, Al Wakra, Khalifa International and Qatar Foundation Stadiums.
