HH The Amir promises Qatar’s support in balancing Somali budget, pledges QR73m
Although Qatar has been subjected to an unjust blockade for almost two years now, it continues to maintain good relations with countries around the world.
It also shows little hesitation in helping countries in need. Just recently, Qatar agreed to pump in $500m into the Lebanese economy to help bolster it.
Similarly, the country had been aiding the Palestinians by disbursing grants and funds to them to pay public servants.
And now, HH The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has directed to support the Somali government’s budget for 2019 with QR73m, reported Gulf Times.
HH The Amir met with Somalian president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo at the Amiri Diwan yesterday. The two leaders discussed the strong bilateral relations between the countries and ways to boost and develop them in various fields.
The discussion between the two leaders, attended by some ministers from the two sides, covered some regional and international issues of common interest, according to The Peninsula.
Qatar enjoys strong ties with Somalia, which is a reflection of the relations inherent in the two countries’ shared history.
Relations between the two countries are based on a combination of common ties, foundations, interests, aspirations and objectives, according to Qatar Tribune.
This is Farmaajo’s third visit to Qatar since his election in February 2017.
The delegation accompanying President Farmaajo included the Minister of Finance Abdirahman Duale Beyle and Minister of Ports and Marine Transport Mariam Aweis Jama.
