Biryani Festival 2019
The one dish that everyone unanimously love indulging in is the mouth-watering Biryani. So foodies, get ready to tantalize your taste buds as the Biryani Festival is back with it’s second edition.
The most flavorful festival is set to take place from February 20 till March 2, 4:00 pm to 12:00 am at Al Bidda Park, eleven days when the fragrant of biryani will linger in the air.
Visitors will be able to taste and appreciate more than 100 types of distinct types of Biryanis. Some of the well-known favorites will be present including, but not limited to, mughlai, lucknow gosht, kashmiri vegetable, mussels, prawns, hara macchi, egg, harkmas (beef), malabar chicken, mattanjery chicken, kayikka’s beef, thalassery mutton, the traditional Afghani and Irani.
Do keep some cold drinks handy as those seeking a more spicy experience may find their palates on fire.
The word Biryani is derived from the Persian word ‘Birian’, which means ‘fried before cooking’ and Birinj, the Persian word for rice. There are various theories related to the origin of this scrumptious dish. Many historians believe that biryani originated from Persia and was brought to India by the Mughals. Biryani was further developed in the Mughal royal kitchen.
