Car Driving License Experience 2018
Dear Friends- Hope all are doing good. I just wanted to share my Experience on getting Car Driving License in Qatar. So, it may be useful for others.
1. Since, I have a Oman Valid Driving License, i was able to attend Direct Road Test.
2. In Order to apply for a Direct Road Test, First, you have to take NOC from your company(via Metrash2), Eye Test( Either from the Driving school Or outside also), Your ID.
3. Once you get the above- You can go to Driving License Department which is next to Driving School and wait for your Token.
4. Upon submitting the above documents at the Counter- they will give you a Test Date for Computerized Signal Test. The Amount 50 QR has to be paid by Bank Card.
5. I personally suggest- better to buy a Driving Test Book Or you can ask your friends for the Book. Before your Test- Study and get familiarize with the Sign Boards.I saw many guys, who failed in the signal test more than 2 Times.
4. While attending the Test, 20 Questions will be populated in the screen and you may have to select. I think, you have to answer 18 Questions correctly to Pass. The result will be populated as soon as you Complete the Test.
5. While reading the Sign Books, go through the sign and the words return for the sign. In the Test, the wordings may get differ what you saw in the Book.
6. Once you pass your Signal Test- again go to Driving License Department and get your date for Road Test. Amount 250 QR. You can choose Manual/ Automatic.
7. If you are well versed in the GCC driving and know how to drive Correctly it will be easy for you guys. I saw most of the Guys got their other GCC driving license and they were driving for so many years. But, still they fail. It's not because of they don't know the Driving. It's because, they don't know how to drive Correctly.
8. For example- In my case, I was driving in Oman for 5 Years. But, I failed 2 Times. The reason was 1. Nervousness 2. Listening storied from Friends, 3. Not following the Road Rules and Driving Rules.
9. After I have joined my short term course in the Driving School, I came to know my Mistakes.
10. I heard Lot of guys posted in the group- Not to take the Test as a First Person. It's totally wrong information. If you're driving good- even you are driving First Or Last, you will Pass.
11. So coming back to our point- If you feel you need a driving practice for 10 Days before the Exam- You can join Short Course (2900 QR).
12. According to my observation some tips to pass your Exams: a. Avoid Too much tension and nervousness. b. Don't discuss about this to your Friend circle. c. Dress properly and apply good perfume. This is not to attract the Police. This will gives you confident to yourself. d. Wait for your Turn. As soon as your name called- Go and sit inside the Car. Queue doesn't matter. Don't be affraid to sit First for the Test. When the Police arrive, Say Good Morning. Adjust your seats quickly, Adjust your mirrors(even it's right for you), check whether, the Police weared the seat belt. If not, request him to wear. Put the Gear on D Mode( For Automatic) and put indication Left or Right, Remove Hand Brake and move On. Don't see or ask anything to the Police on the Road direction. He will tell you the direction, if not go straight. This was one of the reason, I failed in my 2 test. Maintain the Gap between the Vehicles, Maintain the speed, Overtake the vehicle, If other vehicle going slow. Don't wait for the police instructions. Check the Mirrors when it's needed. In the Round about- Apply signals. Always drive on the second lane. If you see a Trucks going on the Seconf Lane- you can drive on First Lane. When Police ask you to park- Check the mirrors, apply signals and park it correctly. If you open your driver door fully- it's should distrub the upcoming vehicle it's called Correct Parking method. Once parked- Apply the Hand Brake, change the Gear to P and put double indicatior and Say Thank you to Him.
I am sure, you can Pass. I just shared my experience. All the best.
Think I was nervous before the test, which didn't help
Just took my 1st test and failed. I thought I made no mistakes. However, when I got feedback I made loads of mistakes. I was driving in Sri Lanka for a year, but I thought getting the license here in Qatar would be easy. I was wrong
