Warm greetings to all.

I have been offered a job in Doha with salary of 35000 QAR including all.

I have two school going kids and dependent wife. If I live a conservative life how much I'll be able to save per month after deducting all the living school etc costs.

Thanks a lot

Regards

Thanks a lot for your valuable opinion.

I need a 1 Bhk apartment for family accommodation but location I am not able decide. My budget is around 5oooqar and my working will be around bin omraan and kids will be studing in any of the indian cbse schools. Please suggest the location so that school distance and my working distance can be made easy by bus.

Thanks and Regards

living with family is expensive when you are the only working person.

You definitely need a 2 bhk - starts around 5.5k to 7k depends on the area.

you definitely need to get your own car here- if you plan to stay long term.(getting a DL in qatar is costly and time consuming)(car pooling is also expensive).

School admissions are very difficult. try finding a contact well before hand.

You will need approx 12k to 15k every month(very modest life style)

FYI - you can apply for a family visa only after 6 months of you being in qatar(6 months bank statement required). So plan accordingly.

Drop in a msg if u need more info.

Thanks a lot for the feedback.

So you mean to say one can manage transportation even with family with karwa bus with having own car.

Is it convenient to Go by karwa bus from any piont to any reasonable point in Doha.

So monthly expenses will be around 10000 QAR for a family of 4 (school going kids) excerexcept School expenses. Please opine.

Thanks a lot

The reason that made me guess you were from Andhra is because I noticed many people from this state usually use the words "warm greetings" or "warm regards" and not "best regards"or "kind regards". Anyway, my guess was wrong!

Now coming to the real part of your problem. It is not essential for you to drive in Qatar. Take my own example. While I drive in my own country and was also driving in some other ME countries, I don't drive in Qatar. I find the Karwa bus service to be very convenient. For any other situation where I need to travel fast, I hire a taxi of which there are aplenty. Also, using the Karwa bus service saves me the botheration of driving, searching for a parking space, and of course penalties on traffic violations such as the penalty of QR 6000 for jumping the red signal which gets applied here in such violations. All one has to do is to manage his time well. Having said that, some people have this unusual belief that owning a car is a sign of status. I don't believe in that hogwash. Travelling on the Karwa bus has another benefit. It allows one to meet people from different countries and different walks of life making the journey a bit interesting and enriching one's experience of life.

Lastly, in Qatar all vehicles are left-hand drives, unlike those on India.

Thanks a lot for the guidance .

No no I am not from Andhra. Now you tell me why you guessed it so.

So getting school admission is a tough job it seems .

Is it must to have a car for transportation.actually I am not very well worsed with driving and that to right-hand.

Thanks a lot

I guess you belong to Andhra in India. If my guess is correct, let me know and then I will tell you how I managed to guess correctly.

Wakra is a good area for staying and the place is comparatively cheaper rent-wise compared to other residential areas of Doha. It is a bit out of Doha and possibly that could be the reason for lower rents.

There are many Indian schools in Doha and some of them are in the Al Wakra vicinity. You need to Google to find out their locations. For information on their fees and other details, you will need to contact them directly as I have very little knowledge on this side, However, from what I get to read at QL, parents face issues in getting their children an admission in any school due to limited space available.

On the transport side, Doha has a lovely network of bus service. There is just one organization that operates this service and is known as "Karwa". The fare is usually around QR 2.50 from one end to the other, or for part of the journey. Fares are paid through "Smartcards" which need to be bought from the Karwa office and then topped up as and when required. Should you decide to take accommodation in Al Wakra and use the Karwa bus to come to work, you will first need to come to the bus station and then switch over to the bus that would take you to your work place. As per my judgement, travel time by bus service from Al Wakra to your place of work may be around 1 1/2 hours.

As I stated, it depends on which school you would like your children to go to. Qatar has schools run by several nationalities.

As for the car expenses, I guess QR 700 per month should suffice for cost of petrol and servicing. You may round it up to say QR 1000.

Thànks a lot for the feedback.School like any of cbse schools near alwakra area.can you please give me a rough idea of school expenses of class 6 and 3rd.

Also you said 700qar for car means it includes the cost emi and petrol everything.

An unfurnished apartment would cost you around QR 5500 per month. Food and other miscellaneous expenses may total to another QR 2500. Add another QR 700 for your car. As for the school expenses, it all depends on which school you would like your children to go to. Many people prefer schools of their own nation. Fees and costs vary from school to school. I guess you should be having substantial savings at the end of the month.
