Woqod stations to start accepting debit, credit cards from end of the year
Woqod petrol stations are a very common sight across the country. The bright green-branded entity has constantly been evolving itself and its services in recent times.
Come December and Woqod will introduce another initiative to better serve its customers — use of credit and debit cards to pay for fuel.
Thousands of vehicle owners across the country are expected to benefit from the initiative, reported Gulf Times.
“Woqod is in the process of accepting debit and credit cards for fuel sales at petrol stations by the end of this year,” said Woqod Chief Executive Officer Saad Rashid Al Muhannadi.
Al Muhannadi said the number of petrol stations currently operated by the company, which includes mobile dispensing facilities, has reached 58. A further 13 stations are currently under construction while another 12 is in the tendering and designing stage.
Woqod is planning to increase the number of petrol stations to 83 by the end of 2018 and 120 by 2022.
He said that until September, the total sales volume of petroleum products (diesel and gasoline) exceeded 4,024m litres, with an increase of 2.5% for the period that ended in September as compared to the same period last year.
LPG and natural gas (CNG) sales for the period increased by 14% and 0.9% respectively.
