Have you used Kahramaa’s free parking space right next to Souq Waqif yet?
If you dread going to the Souq Waqif on any day for fear of congested parking areas and steep parking fees, then you should stop worrying.
This is because you can now park your car at the newly-opened parking lot, owned by the Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa), situated right next to Al Fardan Tower, reported Qatar Tribune.
The parking spot, which is right next to the Al Ghanem bus station in the heart of Doha, has enough parking spaces for commuters who often struggle to find parking spots.
Parking is totally free and serves all those working in neighbouring banks or Souq, as well as customers who come to shop in the area. It can comfortably accommodate 270 vehicles and is fully-equipped with safety measures and facilities to ensure a safe and proper parking space.
Not many people know about the facility, which was opened only two weeks ago. Speaking to Qatar Tribune, a security guard said they hardly receive 10 to 15 vehicles every day and attributed this to the lack of knowledge about this 24-hour parking lot.
Kahramaa has built a power substation in the area and the seven-floor parking lot has been built on top of it.

armor10 would rather break the traffic law by parking on a footpath, instead of just walking an extra five minutes. And then will probably pay a fortune to walk on a treadmill at a shiny gym for a few days before giving up.
zaheer: It is a visible new structure and it is just behind Barwa Bank building on what is commonly called bank street.
armor: No, it is hardly a two-minute walk from this car park to Souq Waqif. If you are unable to walk this distance to park your car at a proper place, then either you are just too old or just to lazy. Remember, a bit of walk every day is very beneficial to maintaining good health.
No, it’s too far of a walk. Best to park closer to the Souq on the footpath.
It would be nice if each time you'll write something about location specific things .. to add a google map link or at least a photo ..rather then "right next to" this and that ..specially if its about roads .. half of the time I don't understand which exact location you'll are talking about
